gang green. sister time.

the last two days of photos were taken a few weeks ago when cake was making a last minute sister's weekend happen before, what is now refereed to as, "the BIG move."  we had just finished brunch and stumbled across these amazing green doors.  after spending time snapping pictures of each other, we were able to convince our oldest sister to join in the fun!  and let us tell you, it took some convincing! trust us, we understand the awkward feeling of "modeling" in public; and this spot was on a busy street in valley's chicago neighborhood.  we had already gotten a few strange looks and a random guy staring at us the entire time!  oh well, guess that's part of being a photo blogger, right?!?

anyhow, we think our sister did a great job and was wearing a great outfit. just take a look for yourself.

One year ago I married my husband, I can't believe how fast the last 366 days have gone {I added one day because of the leap year.} It's been the best year of my life and I look forward to many many more to come. Thank you to all of our family {old & new} and all of our friends who have supported us as we started out our new life.  i love you babe.

Newlywed faze, see ya on the flip side!

itty bitty party committee {day wedding}. cake.

Here's part two of our collaboration with the Itty Bitty Party Committee; this time we're styling a look for a day time wedding. Daytime weddings can be tricky because the ceremony could be hours before the reception, leaving party guests with hours to hang out. Cake's look is inspired by the old wedding saying of "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue."

Cake started styling her look with her "something old' which is this sequins pencil skirt from Free People; it went on sale after the holidays and she's been waiting for the perfect occasion to wear it. Next up "something new," the white peplum top is one of the newest trends for the spring/summer season. It's an easy top to throw on for a casual day of running errands or can easily be paired with a skirt; the perfect top for a day wedding! For Cake's "something borrowed" she picked a men's wear inspired blazer. It's relax fit can easily transition from morning to afternoon to dinner.  And if you don't own a men's inspired blazer, don't fret, perhaps one of the groomsmen will be kind enough to offer you one to borrow for the night (this is how Cake met her husband!) To top the look off Cake wore some bangles that had a hint of "something blue."  So don't forget, inspiration can come from anywhere, just remember to have fun with it!

itty bitty party committee {day wedding}. valley.

It's time for another collaboration with the Itty Bitty Party Committee; this time we're styling a look for a day time wedding. Daytime weddings can be tricky because the ceremony could be hours before the reception, leaving party guests with hours to hang out. We always call this time the wedding layover. Today, Valley will be showing off her look. Hope you guys get lots of inspiration.

Valley's look is based off the classic LBD; but she's given it her own twist.  Instead of opting for a fitted to the knee black dress Valley picked a flowy pleated maxi. It also has a surprisingly low back; giving just the right amount of sexy appropriateness for a day wedding. To give the dress a little bit of a structure, Valley added a skinny leopard printed belt. And what goes better with leopard then red? So, a red bracelet and red lipstick top this classic look off; and now Valley is ready to take on an early wedding ceremony, the layover, and dance the night away at the reception.
