this set of pictures were taken at dusk, right before we headed out for a night of "catch-up." a few of our closest girl friends from college were all randomly in the same town on the same weekend. yay! we spent 99% of the night sitting at one table, giggling, talking about boys, and figuring out the next time we can all get together.  all in all not much has changed since we met ten years ago!!!

since we tend to be the two girls that show up over dressed for  . . . well life in general . . . we each picked a few of our "dresser but casual pieces" for this evening out.  a jersey pencil skirt & flowy silk top did just the trick for valley.  add a pair of hot pink sandals and everyone will be envious :)

this time of year usually has a lot of ups and downs in temperature which helps us to wear all those tricky items we're never quite sure when to wear them; ie as a sheer brown tunic!!! this tunic is great for right now because it's light weight which helps accommodate the early fall heat and with it's a deep latte color it feels very appropriate for september! right?

paring this tunic with shorts & chunky strappy wedges gives the outfit a perfect summer september feel!!! 

so head into your closet and pull out those items that have been stumping you in the styling department all summer long, we're betting that september is the perfect month to wear them!!!

taking a few small steps into fall fashion :)

so, its back to a summer-y looking post . . . yikes! we know we're saying one thing ("we love fall". . . blah blah blah) and then posting these photos where we're wearing summer shorts . . . blah blah blah . . . but you just gotta love us, right? :)

anywho- while we're both ready for fall, there are still a few summer outfits left in our repertoire. such as today's and tomorrow's posts. truth be told, who doesn't love a little indian summer?! when you live in the mid-west most of your life you've got to take full advantage of the early fall days to still wear your favorite shorts, dresses, and sandals. so, we're doing just that. we have the mentality of easing into fall...one day & one outfit at a time.

these photos are taken on the steps to one of our favorite buildings on saint mary's college campus. the art building {did you hear singing angels too?!?}. it has a small gallery inside and after we finished taking our photos we popped inside and took a look around. art work from college students can't be beat, they're all just tapping into their creative juices . . . it's pretty amazing.

if you live in a city where there's a college or university we highly encourage you to take an afternoon or weekend morning to stop by the art building and look around at what the young folk are creating. it will undoubtedly inspire you!

alright folks, here's my back to school/fall wish list!!! like valley, i'm looking for pieces that can easily go from day to night. i mean look at those faux-leather pants! come on, those would be great for a saturday of shopping with my black converses and would make a seamless transition into a night out with just a switch into a pair of sky-high heels :)

when i was putting this list together i noticed an overwhelming desire to purchase items that reflect my new geographical location!  now that i live in the {way} northeast i've seen a certain hunting & outdoorsy theme to my fall wish list. just check out that fox sweater and the forest green slouchy hat! love.

and guess what? my husband is thrilled! HA! he's always been into the hunting and equestrian look. i guess i can live with that :)

valley. fall wish list.

since our last posts were about the end of summer, it only seems appropriate to have the first posts after labor day be about back to school lists. even though neither of us are still in school, back to school shopping has certainly translated well into shopping for a new fall clothing!

here's a look a the thing currently on my fall "lust" list.  i know it seems a little all over the place, but what i like about my wish list is that i am aiming to mix casual with dressier pieces. i would certainly wear this white chunky sweater over either of these two dresses. i'd also pair the outfit with either funky flats or booties for two great day look.

and nothing beats an accessories that can go from day to night seamlessly {check out that chan luu wrap bracelet, dying!} i am also always looking for a new scarf or hat to add just the right touch to an outfit. fall hats seem to be everywhere this year. so take a look around, find a hat that you like, looks good on you, and buy it. i have a feeling you & i will be wearing it a lot in the next few months :)
