cabin fever. cake & valley

okay with the current winter storm moving from the midwest to east coast we're totally getting cabin fever. don't get us wrong, we grew up in northern indiana and we expect the winter gloom & cold to stick around until at least the middle to end of march but to have a winter storm in middle of march has us thinking about warm weather & sunsets that happen after 5:30 pm! so to cure our cabin fever we made a fun summer cocktail & planned a weekend get away! for now here are the pictures from the making of our mojitos, weekend getaway pictures to be posted next week when we return from our California wine tasting tour!!!!!

x&o.

cake & valley.

what you'll need: glass, club soda, mint, sugar, lime, & rum.

add a BUNCH of mint.

add a dash of sugar. we used truvia to make the mojito a little bit more "skinny" friendly!

cut & juice a lime.

(if the limes aren't super fresh you might need to use more then one)

muddle the mint, sugar, and lime together. the mint should really open & become more aromatic.

add two to three shots of rum.

add club soda to fill the rest of the cup up.

final product: mojito to cure cabin fever!

  3. Ahh, Mojitos are one of my faves! Nice to see that you made them properly too, most people seem to forget to muddle & after having worked in a cocktail bar it really annoys me when they don't do it right! Ha!
Hope you both have a lovely time in Cali & look forward to the photos on your return! :)
