layered sweaters.

we think, correction we know, everyone has to have at least one "go-to" sweater in their closet. this one sweater or cardigan is one you can always rely on. you can grab it when nothing else in your closet is working for you. when you know you'll be traveling and you want to be comfy. it's the one thing that goes great with your pjs in the morning or you can grab it and it can be worn over a black & leopard printed peplum top. the gray slouchy cardi in these photos is just that one!

valley spotted this very special sweater about two years ago at tjmaxx. since then it slowly started to make weekly guest appearances in valley's wardrobe. cake was so jealous she started her own hunt for the perfect casual chic sweater. she happily stumbled upon a great jcrew sweater {seen here, here, here & here}. valley was soon asking to borrow this jcrew sweater and the flip-flop  of cardis started. each sweater was borrowed cough hoarded cough by each owner . . . luckily, after some time, cake & valley have agreed to have joint custody of both items. so the sweaters switch homes every few months and everyone lives happily ever after.

the end of the season. mr. coffee.

tonight marks the end of mr. coffee's first season coaching a new team; remember this post here (where it all started!) the season is always the best time to be related to a coach; games to attend, a team to cheer for, and lots of tailgating!!! tonight's game is being aired on the fox soccer channel. so if you happen to be a sports fan & more importantly you get the fox soccer channel, tune in at 7:00 pm and help cheer on dartmouth to a win!

you might just see cake sitting in the stands, bundled up in multiple layers {it's supposed to be around 34 degrees at kick off, that's 1 in celsius!}, and cheering on the big green!!!

double boot-y. valley.

headed to the slopes? nope, just to run errands in style!

alright it's day two of the bootie look & it's valley's turn. valley took a more classic-ski-lodge approach to the styling! {and aren't you dying at how adorable it is?!?! we are!} start with a basic pair of great black pants and then just start layer on a fall colored sweater, a fur vest, and a vibrant color scarf. valley picked a cool tone to counteract the fall warm colors in the sweater. last but not least don't forget your shades to protect your eyes from the fall/winter sun. now all valley needs to complete the ski lodge look . . .  some snow :)

inspiration for this look: the sunset.  the boots have such a beautiful array of colors that adding a few more couldn't hurt right? and how amazing are the lavender jeans from j.crew! a unique color for fall & spring. cake took one look at the fall sunset and couldn't resist pairing the boots with the pants.  comfy, cozy, and chic for a day of running errands!!
